Simple Coleslaw

Our coleslaw recipe couldn't be easier: It comes together in 15 minutes and requires just five ingredients, including shredded cabbage, carrots, mayo, mustard, and a little white wine vinegar. (We like to use a mix of red and green cabbage for a more colorful result.) You can pair this easy side salad with all kinds of summer favorites, from burgers and grilled chicken to pulled pork sandwiches.


  • 6 cups shredded cabbage (from about ½ head), a mix of red and green, if desired

  • 2 cups julienned carrots (from about 4 medium carrots)

  • cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

  • 2 tablespoons white-wine vinegar

  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper


  1. In a bowl, toss together cabbage, carrots, mayonnaise, mustard, and vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve, up to 1 day.
